How to Turn Your First Dance a Success and Make Even Your Grandmother Shed a Tear!
Jive & Swing Wedding Dance
Dance of Parties
Jive comes from America and to some it may be known as "Single" or "Triple" Lindy. It’s a crowd pleaser. It's a spot dance with very relaxed style and position. It is easily learned by most people because of its rhythmical footwork. And once you learn the basics it's easy to dance to any Jive song. It is normally a fast dance and it uses little to medium space.
As a wedding first dance it works a treat. It follows the music with ease and allows freedom of movement. It gets the guests excited because they think they can do it, so they rush on to the floor. It works best when the bridal dress is not too long. Even so, she will be fine by moving on the spot. The groom can keep his jacket on or take it off, or unbutton it.
Jive involves a swing movement of the upper body which when done excessively it doesn’t look that attractive and also takes the attention away from the partner. As a groom, by keeping your body in a normal upright position you would look the part and also make your bride the real centre of attention.
